An established incentive program that had been using the same program structure and communications year to year was yielding positive results to motivate its independent sales reps. The company wanted to maintain such success, but reduce the ongoing administrative and communications costs of the program.
The explosive growth of co-branded credit cards with significant enhancements, plus the impact of no-fee and low-rate offers amid a saturated market for new accounts were taking a toll on cardholder loyalty. The client needed to take proactive efforts to add value to its credit card customer base and re-engage their loyalty.
The new program had to drive distributor and reseller sales of more than 15,000 different product IDs, while also meeting stringent audit requirements. This company had a history of using traditional incentives that had lost their effectiveness. They wanted an innovative concept to distinguish a future program from past and competing programs, while also re-engaging and exciting participants.
What began as 150 guests departing from St. Mark’s Square for a scenic gondola ride turned into a challenge as the program grew in size to 750 attendees. Since a gondola ride at sunset in the highlight of any visit to Venice, we were intent on finding a way to make this happen.
